Lauren Funnies

Just a few more words from the mouth of the babe.

  • 7/24/10: Lauren got goofy on a ride home and starting pointing at anything she could see and laughing hysterically. Finally she says, "I crack myself up."
  • 7/22/10: Lauren and I were talking one night and she said to me, "Mom, you're clever and so am I."
  • A funny one from back in spring of 2010: I was gathering things up to sell for our annual garage sale and Lauren was not picking up her toys. Using reverse psychology (which is suppose to work on kids, right?) I told her if she didn't pick up her toys I would sell them in the garage sale. She proceeded to gather up toys and told me I could sell this one and this one, etc.
  • 7/26/10: "Mom, I am almost 4! Wow, that is a lot of life."

New Workout Routine

I was looking on the Internet at some new workout/challenges out there for fitness. I tend to get bored if I do the same thing all the time. Since I have completed my challenge of running and I just got a sewing machine to work on that goal, I found these 3 strength/fitness challenges and thought maybe these would be neat to try. The best things: They need no equipment (you can do them anywhere) and it only takes about 30 minutes a week.

Two Hundred Sit-Ups Challenge

One Hundred Push-ups Challenge

Two Hundred Squats Challenge

Anyone else up for a new challenge??

B-Day Party Prep

The weekend was a blur as usual. I was very productive though. Got a lot of things done for Lauren's party in 4 weeks. Also, Lauren attended her first "real" big birthday party. Aubrey will turn 4 tomorrow and so her birthday party was on Saturday.

Lauren waiting for the party to start.

Jumping on the trampoline runway.

The whole party crew

Enjoying the bounce house

Exhausted and ready to head home.

The favors for Lauren's party. I decided to do CD's in hopes of just giving crap that gets tossed the second the kids get home or something messy that the parents will want to kill me for.

The homemade cupcake toppers. Now I just have to make the cupcakes.

Her annual "Yearbook". I make one every year and have everyone at the party sign it and write her a message. I think it is something neat for her to have when she gets older too.

The sprinkles for the cupcakes. Decided to do a teal and orange color scheme this year.

And the goody bags during prep.

I Did It

It is the weekend again! My new glasses and sunglasses are in and I cannot wait to pick them up tonight.

Anyway, I have been looking for a new end table to put upstairs. Right now we have an ugly black TV tray of sorts. The problem was they are so gosh darn expensive. I'm sorry, but I do not need a $50+ end table. After months of searching, I stumbled upon this set at Walmart for $19. You heard right, $19! They got great reviews and they fit our needs: sturdy, black and silver and affordable! I am buying them tonight.

Secondly, I have been working through that 2010 goal list slowly. I did my marathon, check. I am reading books, check. I am cooking more, check. I really want to learn to sew, so I found this wonderful machine (again at Walmart) for $55. Great reviews and perfect for the beginning seamstress. I am so excited to get it and start teaching myself to sew. I have about a million things I would love to make. ;o)

Hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend. It is going to be a scorcher here again!

This and That

I finally got around to putting up that photo gallery on our basement walls this past weekend. I love how it turned out. I am so excited to watch the frames fill up as the years pass. The pictures will go from 6 months up to Lauren's Senior HS picture.

Lauren wanted to test out her rain boots and umbrella in the rain last week.

Finally, I will end with a bunch of funny things Lauren has said or done over the past few months. I keep writing them down on a pad of paper so I don't forget these gems! Hard to believe my baby will be 4 in less than a month.
  • 5/16/10: Lauren has told numerous people that Jason and I are her second parents. Apparently she has made up a story that her first parents, Kevin and Heaven (WTH) died after eating dog food. What an imagination.
  • 6/25/10: Lauren told me, "When I turn 16 I can drive a car and row a boat."
  • 6/27/10: While sitting on my lap, "Mommy, I have to go potty. Sorry I almost tooted on you."
  • 7/4/10: While at a cookout with family and friends, Lauren was sitting at a picnic table with her dad, me, and 2 sets of her grandparents. She asked me, "Where is grandpa?" I asked her which one (Grandpa Dave and Grandpa Mike were both there) She looked at my MIL, Diane, and said, "The one that belongs to that grandma."
  • 7/5/10: Lauren stubbed her toe and Jason said we will have to take the toe off and she said, "No daddy, you can't. It is glued on."
  • 7/10/10: Lauren stayed with my parents while Jason and I attended a wedding. Lauren went in the spare room where she sleeps and apparently put on some pajamas my mom had in a drawer instead of the ones I sent for her. My mom thought they looked a little small (it was a one-piece) The next morning, Lauren asked my mom for help getting them off and my mom said she looked at the tag and they were a size 18 months! Lauren is going to be 4 and is quite tall for her age...talk about some ride ups!

Fabulous Fourth

We had a very nice, but busy Fourth of July weekend. On Friday, the 2nd, we attended Jason's stepbrother's wedding. It was outdoors and very nice. I, unfortaunately, got sunburned. OUCH!

Saturday, Jason and I went and had vision tests and ordered new glasses. In the afternoon, we took Lauren to the zoo. It was another hot and steamy day.

Sunday, Lauren and I ran to Target in the morning and then attended a annual Fourth party with family friends.

Monday, we took Lauren to her first movie at the theatre. Toy Story 3. It was cute and she had a blast.
