And The Band Played On

Whew! It was another event filled weekend. We had nice weather for a majority of the weekend....not too hot. FINALLY! Hard to believe July will be here on Wednesday already. WOW!

The placecards I am making for Mindy's wedding!
Lauren enjoying her breakfast of jelly toast and Honey Nut Cheerios.

She looks like she should be at a luau.

This outfit reminds me of something I wore as a child in the 70's.

"Chatterbox" the shirt truly says it all.

Jas, Lauren and I at the Oregon Summerfest parade yesterday.

Lauren and my mom at Little Gym on Saturday.

Lauren and Lyla ready to walk to the parade.

The angelic looks.

Brent, Jill and Lyla at the parade.

I love this picture. I love the movement of her braids as she is running around and dancing to the music.

Lauren giving cousin Lyla some smooches!

Lyla just chillin! I love baby pudge...look at those cheeks!

Lauren up on Uncle Brent's shoulders to get a better view of the parade.

Ah...lollipops! They were a hit!

Lauren was dancing to all the marching bands!

The parade wore both girls out.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Bad Day For Celebs

Wow...Hollywood lost two icons yesterday. Farrah Fawcett, which sadly was no big surprise as she had been battling cancer for the past 3 years. When I heard Michael Jackson had died yesterday as well at the age of 50, I was shocked.

God bless both their familes!

Oh Dear!

While Lauren and I were hanging out together all day Monday (due to her fever), we did a number of things. Baked blueberry muffins, colored, played Candyland, got gas for the "thirsty" car, danced, read books, sang songs, etc. This age truly is so much fun...until a meltdown happens. Thankfully, we really didn't have any of those at all.

We were coloring in her giant Mickey Mouse coloring book. I was coloring Minnie's dress and she was working on Donald Duck's hat, when all of a sudden I hear her gasp and say, "Oh dear!" I stopped coloring and looked up at her. Again, her little face was all puckered up and her eyebrows were in a stern look. "Oh dear, mommy."

I asked her what was the matter while stiffling a laugh. She proceeded to tell me that she used the wrong color and now she ruined the picture. I told her she can use whatever color she wants because it is her art. She seemed satisfied with that and continued coloring.

Where did she pick up that phrase? She sounded like a sweet little old lady. Now, whenever something goes wrong I hear her say, "Oh dear!" It is so cute and I definately prefer it over a massive meltdown.

Pictures Upon Pictures

Today is going to be incredibly uncomfortable. Highs in the mid 90's and very humid. We have heat advisories out till 8pm. Will feel like it is over 100 today. ICK!

I have tons of pics to share and I am sorry to say they will be in a very random order.

Lauren was home sick yesterday...if you can call it that. She had a fever of 102.8 on Sunday night, therefore they cannot go to daycare. So she and I stayed home all day and she was totally fine. We had fun though. Thankfully she had no other ill symptoms other than that fever. So what do you do with a day off? Do something girlie of course.

I painted Lauren's little toenails. Man does it make a child look grownup!

Sitting nice and still for her pedicure!

We got her new furniture on Friday night. Saturday night, Jas and I busted our butts to get it all set up. I LOVE IT! So does Lauren.

Father's Day with her cousin, Lyla.

I find her in her big girl bed ALL THE TIME now.

Checkin out the new digs

The middle of clothes transition.

Making daddy his Father's Day card.

Saturday was Lauren's first class at The Little Gym. She had a blast and cannot wait to go back. She won 8 free weeks back in February and we are just starting them now.

Catching bubbles

Rolling the ball with daddy.

Trying the balance beam with mommy.

Sporting her new Hannah Montana dance outfit that grandma got her. The child wants to wear this 24/7 now.

She poses great...now I just gotta get her to open her eyes!

Mars

Wanted to get this info out before everyone is gone for the summer. Flag this email to remind you again in August!

Something to look forward to this summer.

Mars

The Red Planet is about to be spectacular!

This month and next, Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that
will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in
recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is
in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on
Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be
certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth
in the Last 5,000 years, but it may be as long as
60,000 years before it happens again.

The encounter will culminate on August 27th when
Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and
will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in
the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9
and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest
75-power magnification

Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye.
Mars will be easy to spot. At the
beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10p.m.
and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m.

By the end of August when the two planets are
closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its
highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m. That's pretty
convenient to see something that no human being has
seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at
the beginning of August to see Mars grow
progressively brighter and brighter throughout the
month.
Share this with your children and grandchildren.

NO ONE ALIVE TODAY WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN

Misc Friday

So, yesterday the BM dresses arrived for the wedding. About a month earlier than predicted and they look terrific. I posted a picture of mine at the end...color is stunning. Diet is going wonderfully, the weather looks pretty good for the weekend (maybe a trip to the zoo) and the busy summer season begins next weekend. Whew!

My dinner of sauteed veggies the other night....yum!

Lauren explaining her rules of Candyland to mommy.
Deciding that sorting the cards is more fun.

Random comments from the peanut gallery.

Moving her little Candyland person

Ahh Candyland....the newest obsession.

We took Lew out to the local diner for dinner and she loved it. It is totally a 50's type diner with great food.

My dress hanging up after hours crammed inside a box.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!
